It is beyond obvious that we live in a consuming society. The more you buy, the better. But even sometimes, since totally avoiding it seems impossible or hardly achievable, there are little ways to give a hand to others in need through it. There is where initiatives and startups just like TOMS where born. TOMS is a shoe shop. Yes, shoes. But they have a One for One policy. Let's check how they do it:
What is One for One?
It started as a pretty basic concept: for every pair of shoes you buy, they would give one to someone in need. However, now the brand has expanded and besides selling shoes, sunglasses, other accessories and apparel (now they even sell sustainable coffee!), they have initiated so many projects to provide shoes, eyewear, water, safe birth and stopping bullying.
It seems like a perfect deal right? and extra points for making stylish and comfortable shoes!
However, we should be critic. Where are the shoes made? Are they really doing what they promise? Are the prizes real or overcharged? (of course, i'm not trying to take down this great innovation, as I personally believe that TOMS is doing wonderful things, just reminding to keep a critic mind over things and make sure that you are buying what you are told).
Check it out for yourself!
