Oh, sunday lunch. On August 21st I had this wonderful experience of going for a nice sweet lunch at Tenorio with my parents. Tenorio is a classic in Barcelona. Located in the center, at the emblematic Passeig de Gracia (you know, the shopping street, the barcelonian 5th avenue) at the so called Block of Discord, it is the perfect choice for pretty much every occasion. Looking for a nice stylish dinner? Tired after some morning shopping? Want an afternoon drink? GO THERE.
WHAT CAN YOU EAT
It is a mediterranean based menu, with specially a wide range of Catalan typical dishes. Therefore you have everything from Spanish traditional tapas, tuna and tomato salad, fresh fish and all kind of meats. When I was there, we had the tuna and tomato salad (second photo), a goat cheese salad (third photo) and some penne alla bolognese for starters. Then, we proceeded to indulge a delicious grilled octopus (forth photo), some more grilled meat (fifth photo -an argentinian "entraña") with potatoes and the classic grilled chicken. By the way, they do have other things that are not necessarily grilled. And for desserts, a chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream (sixth photo)! You my motto, a good restaurant needs to serve a good coulant; and this one definitely made it.
However, they do have a large menu which includes many salads and starters like tapas, croquettes, carpaccio... paellas, salmon, burger, steaks... and you will surely find your special treat.
By the way, do not miss that bread with tomato and that parmesan cheese they bring, it is really really good and definitely one of my favorite things there.
Average price per person typically ranges from 15€ - 30€

THE SPACE
It is a modern and stylish venue, which was recently renovated. First things first, the outside is beautiful. It's located in the same block as Gaudi's Casa Batllo and Casa Ametller - two of the most known modernist architecture houses in Barcelona. Then, as you enter, you'll see this trendy and kind-of-redish place. It's a big space too, so they will surely find a spot if you come in a large group. One of my favorite features is how you can see the whole kitchen throughout the glass. There they are the cooks going frenzy to get your meals done on time. The only little thing I'm not so into is the lightning, I would rather get some more natural light specially for those who come during the day.
THE EXPERIENCE
As said before, i truly believe Tenorio is a perfect match for every occasion. It might be a romantic night dinner, or a family lunch. A meal for two or a meal for twenty. Or even just grab a couple tapas in the afternoon. And the ambience is really nice and cosy!
As for the service, I have been there a million times and they have always treated me pleasantly as also brought my food on time.
