Some months ago I had the amazing opportunity to visit one of the most gorgeous places in this world - the Okavango Delta. Situated in the south of Africa (but this is not South Africa) it takes place between the Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia's border and it's where nature, water and beauty collide.
After a 24 hours journey along different airports, we finally set off our trip in Chobe River, a river with the unique characteristic of flowing in both directions. We settled down in a lovely lodge by the river and that night we slept in tents. Before the sunrise next morning, we took the canoes to discover the place. The views we saw while rowing were truly breath-taking: a combination of the water's electric blue reflecting the sky, the livid green of the plants showing life and the dried brown of its leaves. Then you added to this scene the natural sounds of nature; a bunch of remote birds whistling, the water peacefully murmuring and the slow whispers of the wind. We felt completely inmersed in Africa.
But life doesn't wait for anybody and what we didn't know was that our one time life experience was only starting to begin. From Chobe River we went to the Mamili National Park. This time was different. They were taking us on an authentic african photographic safari. We jumped in an old shaking Jeep, we set on our cameras and we prepared ourselves for the adventure.
After bouncing several times in the sandy and bumpy road and following some huge elephant and buffalo herds, we took a break. That was our big opportunity to have an out of africa traditional lunch. We felt just like Robert Redford and Meryl Streep (despite being quite more than two) eating in the middle of nowhere surrounded by high yellow grass and peace. There, in the quite, was when I finally understood why the say that we, western people, have the clocks but they have the time.
We hit the road again, going through countless rare names of villages, stores an things in our way and we eventually reached to the magnificent Okavango River. To take once again a ride around this fascinating place.

Having been disappeared of civilization for a while, we went back to the city. The city of Victoria Falls. We couldn't miss the visit to the falls, and, of course, they didn't let us down. Being right next to those big walls of falling water was actually impressive and pretty scary at the same time. The massive power of water and how you could hear it furiously go down to then, break into the floor and shake everything putted you in goosebumps. At the same time, the landscape was amazing. You could walk through numerous ways feeling inside a fairytale. Tall green trees that hide magic mysteries, the smell of the rain and the warm atmosphere. Just close your eyes and breath.
Sadly, unluckily our trip was coming to an end. It definitely broke all my expectations. Against all odds, it was well organized, food was deliciously cooked, service was pleasantly done and it wasn't crowded or overfilled at all. And, not to forget, I had an incredible time.
Every single place was different. From one village to the other, only a few miles away, everything changed. The trees, the flowers, the sand. Each land gave you a newfound vision of nature, it was a new opportunity to discover the secrets. The diversity of colors and smells was admirable. If something proved me, once again, is that nature is still the cleverest. So, humans, please, its really a useless point trying to be better than her.
Sincerely,
Vera
P.S.: I haven't mentioned yet, but yeah, we also saw some pretty incredible animals in savannah.
