Gladly, I can announce that today i'm opening a new section on my blog: Barcelona Secret Restaurants. And as the name itself suggests, I''l be sharing with you some of the places I go and eat with my family or friends and that I genuinely enjoy. While I make my way through the city, you'll be able to see from cheap sites to nice cute cafes or delicious restaurants (and if I get the chance too, chic tasty places).
On the first editions it's time to: Ribera-Manero, a long-established traditional restaurant hidden inside the shopping center known as La Illa, in the middle of Avinguda Diagonal (that one that crosses all along the city of Barcelona in diagonal). It's a place where you'll find all kinds of delicious Mediterranean dishes. This one, it really is hidden. You get inside the mall, then downstairs to minus 1 Floor and you explore around, you get lost in the restaurants sections until you find it (not really good at giving directions... sorry!).

It's an habitual ceremony with my family to go there at Saturdays' lunch time, to celebrate. Whatever, actually. To celebrate one of us won a match, or had a great mark or just to commemorate that we are all together. In fact, we just really like so much going there that we make up some random excuse every time we go. You know what they say, at the end, what will matter the most is if you enjoyed your life and loved what you d.id.
Once we have settled down in our table, the first thing we must do (and you should do too), is asking for bread with tomato. In case you don't know what it is, it is a catalan traditional food where you cut slices of bread and spread on one side tomato, olive oil and salt, and it is so good. Then, for first plates you've got such a wide range of options to go for that you will never get bored. Maybe you are feeling like some seafood or maybe better some cannelloni? And if you get a day where they have spaghetti.... it is so SO good. For main courses, again, there are many good dishes that you can try that I could not mention them all. Any kind of fish will always be deliciously cooked or pasta or really anything you feel like eating, because each and every single one will be an impressively good meal. I promise.
My everyday favorite is the tuna with some potato and cooked tomato, with the so good sauce of soy. It is magic. Awesome. Delicious. And really well smartly cooked.
By the way, they only serve fish, seafood and pasta, so sorry, no meat!

Last, but not least: DESSERTS! Glory time, per favore! Also, my favorite time, of course. I should say all of them are incredibly awesome, but I would be lying if I didn't said you ought to order the chocolate brownie. Because I truly think that somebody should declare it a holy golden treasure of gastronomy. Sincerely. Congratulations to the chefs! Anyway, if you are not in a mood for chocolate, there are still many options to try. Mascarpone with mango (my mums favorite of all times) is a good one too!
But promise me one thing: no matter what you've chosen a long your meal do always take some seconds to savor every bite. Stop and relax. Feel the explosion of flavors inside your mouth. It is an incredible experience, it is simply food, but a really good one..

It truly is a pleasure to go there, always. I have been going there since I was a little tiny baby, so yes, I like it. It now keeps inside a lot of memories and good times. This is one of my most beloved restaurants. Going there, greeting the nice friendly waiters (who,as the kitchen cooks, work frenetically non-stop), eating that brilliant food... it is just a wonderful experience every time (and believe me, I have been there like a millions times). I would love to congratulate all that people who work on it, because they sincerely do an amazing job with their restaurant, and after all those years, they are still able to keep the level high (and that is what creates loyal costumers like us!).
Have you ever been to this restaurant? Which are your beloved favorite restaurants in Barcelona? Any recommendation? Let me know!
Sincerely,
Vera
