So I'm finally back with a new Great Story! This time it is the turn for the magnificent webpage of KHAN ACADEMY. Maybe you have heard about it before, maybe you even have your own account, but for all of those who have no idea of what it is there is one single issue you ought to know: it is incredibly useful.
But, what is the story behind it? Eight years ago there was Salman Khan, an american student who had graduated from both MIT and Harvard (degree and MBA). He was teaching Mathematics to his younger cousin via his phone and videos he had done himself on his spare time, until one day, one friend suggested he uploaded those videos to the world-wide know video webpage, youtube. His little youtube channel was eventually seen by more and more people, receiving comments and questions and therefore, Salman Khan being encouraged to keep up with it.
And this is how the Khan Academy was born. Khan left his job and his finance career to devote himself fully to make a world education through the internet . His aim is to provide "a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere". The webpage has ever since improved so much and nowadays you can create your own account and keep up with your learning in almost every subject you want: mathematics (it's core subject), science, history, economics, computer science.... and a bunch of much other things yet to discover. The best thing, to my mind, is how they have been able to create an interactive fun page to play with: you have point and you can learn badges and even teachers or parents can mentor their students. It is pretty simple: you create your own account and then, start learning!
Here are some screenshots so you can take a look on how it is like:

This whole project seems to me as one of those wonderful things in which the internet has been able to help a lot. We are creating a global connected society, and we have to make the most out of it. Khan Academy is being translated by the help of worldwide volunteers and it is fully financed with the contribution of all those people willing to give a hand to help improve the webpage, and, thanks to it, millions of people around the globe has been able to learn something new with only the need of their enthusiasm.
Thank you to Salman Khan and to all of you who contribute to create a better world united.
